RulesETA 6/19: Um, yeah. I'm a really slack club maintainer. Anyway, there is only one contest entry, so I'm disbanding it. Sorry! Very much so. This notice will be up until June 23, at which time I will delete this entry.Okay, this club has existed for about a month (if it's not, close enough). Which means I can finally post that contest I was thinking about, credit to *
maimtorturekill for snitching the idea right out of my brain and prompting me to post this.
The contest is almost the same as the project, but...not. Instead, you'll choose a first line from your favorite piece, be it novel, short story, poem, or prose (fame of author not required) and write a piece from that.
Contest entries may be found in the club's Gallery under the Contest I category.
.:Rules:.~ You must credit the original piece and author in your Artist's Comments.
~ If you can link it would be great, but it's not required.
~ To enter the contest, you MUST send the club a note with a link.
~ It must be a line from someone else. The first line CANNOT originate from you.
~ Entries can be either poetry or prose. Depending on the number of entries, the categories may be judged together or separately.
~ Winner will be decided by popular vote; if there is a tie, I as club moderator get to pick the winner. Don't like it? Too bad.
Deadline for entries is June 16, 8 pm EST. This is because although it's a Monday, it is during my summer break and I do actually want to do other things than mess about with coding. Voting will begin midnight of June 16, EST, and end 10 pm June 23 EST. Entry deadline may be adjusted (slightly!) depending on what hours I'll be working, but only by a few hours either way. Still, it's best to get it in by June 15 to be safe. If any of these deadlines don't work for you but you'd like to participate anyway, note me at ~
onyxdemoness or the club (the first one will likely get back to you faster, since I tend to kind of neglect the club what with exams coming up and all) and we'll see if we can work something out.
Prizes! First prize is a three-months subscription and your entry in the club's featured deviation. Second prize is a one-month subscription. I may add on a third prize of a graphic design from me - not terribly complicated, just an icon or a wallpaper or something of that sort, depending on the number of entries, but don't count on it.
EDIT: Um, so I just realized that some of you are already paid members. Oops? Well, if you are, and you win, I'll buy you a print roughly equivalent to the amount of your original prize money. Which means "don't choose something that only has huge things, I can't afford it." But other than that, deviation of your choosing.
I thought I was a crazy person for reusing themes, and now I'll be reusing opening lines.
There's nothing quite like a remix.
I kind of reuse stuff - themes, water bottles, recipes, food bits in said recipes - so it was a natural conclusion for me.
I love remixes and redos, personally. It lets you systematically explore all the possibilities.
